To Shirakawa-go — a World Heritage Site where Japan’s beautiful original landscape endures.
Shirakawa-go, in Shirakawa Village, Gifu Prefecture, is a village of gassho-zukuri farmhouses inscribed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1995. Around 100 thatched-roof houses stand in a row, and the surrounding scenery — cherry blossoms in spring, green in summer, autumn foliage, and snow in winter — blends beautifully with the nature of each season.
